The Saadia Group, which works in multi-category product manufacturing, wholesaling and retailing, has rolled out iconic American brand Lord & Taylor as an online “collective store,” according to an announcement.

A banner on the Lord & Taylor website on Wednesday (April 21) read “Hello Again!”

The new chapter in the life of Lord & Taylor “promises to bridge the 195-year heritage with a modern, innovative future” with exclusive collaborations and products, “first-class service” and events, according to the announcement.

Moreover, the platform is designed to fit and grow with the constantly evolving customer. The Saadia Group said in the announcement to “stay tuned” for exclusive tie-ups, new rollouts throughout categories, fresh collections and a “robust” private label offering, according to the announcement.

“The future of retail is fast and agile, mirrored by our team — which has managed to put together a fantastic assortment of merchandise and a website — in record time of less than 120 days. We are deeply committed to continuing the rich legacy of the brand in a progressive way. Today’s unveil is just the beginning,” Jack Saadia, principal and co-founder of The Saadia Group, said in the announcement.

Lord & Taylor, which was established in 1826, is “America’s first and oldest department store,” according to the announcement. The brand has a lengthy history in fashion and has started the careers of a number of U.S. designers, according to the announcement. Moreover, its former flagship location, which was constructed in the early 1900s, is now a landmarked building in New York City.

“Under Saadia Direct, the iconic American brand will make its digital comeback and will be relaunched as America’s first Collective Store,” according to the announcement.

Branded merchandise is sold at retail and outlet locations and through the web at a number of websites via Saadia Direct, according to the announcement.

The news comes after the Lord & Taylor chain, along with parent company Le Tote, filed for bankruptcy in Richmond, Virginia.
